African dance for women

In this workshop Korkoi Odametey will focus on women's themes and dances from the point of view of the Ghanaic culture. A word in Ghana says: a women is the flower in the garden, the men is the fence around it. In the Akan mythology the earth itself is a women: Asase Yaa.

Korkoi will convey the spiritual powers, weaknesses and tasks of the woman, based on her own personal experiences in life and taking from the spiritual richness of her culture in form of dance, music and mythical tradition.

Women have their own kind of expression in dance, often sing their own songs and are said to be more powerful and enduring in spiritual manners than men. How this present of nature can be used and cared will be conveyed by Korkoi in her inimitable sensual way.
